Mentioned on labels as DEA, TEA, or MEA, alkyloamides are used in cosmetics for their foam creating nature. They are also used as thickening and binding agents. Alkyloamides can be sensitising to the skin and can form harmful substances when combined with formaldehyde-releasing preservatives in some cosmetics.
