This is a type of fatty alcohol that is a combination of cetyl and stearyl alcohol. In cosmetics it is used as an emollient, texture-enhancing agent, foam stabiliser, and carrying agent. It can be both synthetically made or naturally derived from coconuts, and is gentle on the skin.
