Cadbury

Cadbury is a British international confectionary company and one of Australia’s most popular milk chocolate brands. The Cadbury name is synonymous with many Aussie favourites including Freddo the Frog, Caramello Koala, Creme Eggs, Old Gold, and Cherry Ripe. Founded in 1824 in Birminghim, England by John Cadbury, the company started by selling cocoa and drinking chocolate to the wealthy, as an alternative to alcohol. At that time, chocolate was drinkable and not edible, but in 1849 Cadbury and his brother made their first edible chocolate bar. This earned them a Royal Warrant to manufacture chocolate and cocoa for Queen Victoria. Cadbury first started importing products to Australia in 1853, and in 1920, a factory was built in Tasmania with two more later opening in Melbourne.
